Back in June Claire and I honeymooned in Crete, (as you’ll know from a previous post). Being there for three weeks we met some awesome people. We knew a lot of the staff already, but the other guests we met as strangers, but they quickly became friends. One of our new friends is Leontine, an air stewardess from the Netherlands who had big plans for her future. We chatted about the staff and the service offered by the hotel and how it would be awesome to be a host and have the ability to look after guests of our own. Little did we know that although that was a pipe dream for Claire and I, it was actually on the cards for Leontine. It turns out she wanted to leave the airline, buy a property in France and renovate it into a Bed and Breakfast / Guesthouse.
Fast-forward to 2017 and that dream is now a reality, I give you “Gites La Tourelle”.
We are so pleased that this dream has become a reality, and we can’t wait to pay her a visit as soon as possible. I’ve never actually been to France so this will be a great reason to break my France virginity 😉 Following her progress on Facebook she has put a LOT of effort into making this place the perfect little getaway for her guests, and it doesn’t appear to have been an easy task either.
Here’s a message from the good lady herself:
Proudly I present you Domain La tourelle (turret) located in the picturesque village of Uxeau, with beautiful views, in the South of Burgundy. Easily accessible from the motorway from Paris and the Route du Soleil. Also accessible via Lyon Airport or TGV station Montchanin Le Creusot (45 km).
In the gites Le Duc (4 persons), La Duchesse (4 persons) and Le Chevalier (2 persons) you can relax, enjoy the good life, but also hiking, biking, golf, kayaking, horseback riding, relax in thermal pools (in the immediate vicinity) or laze by the pool.
All gites have a living room, open kitchen, bathroom (with shower massage) separate bedroom(s) and a private terrace. You can relax under the two centuries-old lime trees in the courtyard with a Burgundy wine.
Use of the swimming pool and the BBQ is free.
In the turret on the site, you will find a bar, where for a small fee you can obtain various beverages and in the summer months a refreshing ice cream.
Within walking distance of La tourelle, you will find the local bakery and the village restaurant where for very reasonable prices a good three-course menu is served.
I would be pleased to make a fitting quote for you for a stay at La tourelle.
I hope to welcome you soon,
